Treatment of orthopedic injuries
An orthopedic injury is a disorder of the musculoskeletal system that can affect bones, muscles, tendons or joints. They can be traumatic (following an accident) or of gradual onset. Most injuries treated in physiotherapy are orthopedic injuries.
Here are some examples of orthopedic injuries:
- fracture
- sprain (lumbar, ankle, knee, etc.)
- muscular injuries (elongation, contusion, partial or complete muscle tear)
- meniscus injuries
- tendonitis, bursitis, capsulitis
- femoropatellar syndrome
- neck pain and back pain
- myalgia
- concussions
These injuries can come with pain, swelling, bruising, limitation of movement, inability to perform sport, daily tasks or work.
