Lomi Lomi Nui is a massage technique of Hawaiian origin practiced by master healers known as the Kahunas. This ancient practice aims to revive the harmony of the four elements (water, fire, air and earth) to restore Mana (energy) to the body and release the stresses of life. This treatment has been handed down from generation to generation for over 1000 years.
It is offered as a relaxing or therapeutic massage to relieve pain and tension. It is performed with warm or hot oil. The hands, fingers, elbows and especially the forearms are used in fluid movements imitating the back-and-forth motion of the waves of the Hawaiian Islands, to provide a moment of relaxation for both body and mind.
During the treatment, therapists use various manoeuvres such as kneading, acupressure and stretching to ease muscular tension, working precisely and deeply with the rhythm of the waves. Lomi Lomi techniques are commonly included in customized massages.
