Swedish massage (relaxation and therapeutic)
A swedish massage is a sequence of maneuvers applied to the muscle mass or joints, with multiple benefits. It is, first of all, a massage that tones and relaxes the muscles. It also promotes blood and lymphatic circulation. This massage technique can be used for both therapeutic and relaxation purposes.
There are two main categories of swedish massage
- Relaxation massage
The swedish relaxation massage will be performed with the aim of relaxing the body as well as the mind. Through its soothing maneuvers, it will have the effect of reducing the effects of stress on the body. This approach is included in therapeutic massage since it is not uncommon to need a mixture of the two.
- Therapeutic massage
During a therapeutic massage, the massage therapist will target one or more areas requiring special attention. A firmer and more vigorous massage including specific techniques will release muscle tension and thus provide relaxation, tone and flexibility to the body.
