What is the right choice of footwear when we have a foot injury?<\/h2>\n

Here are the important criteria that can help us in the healing process and in the long term to prevent certain injuries. First of all, it is important to have a podiatric evaluation and advice specific to our activities and our type of foot.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

1- The outer sole of the shoe should bend at the base of the toes, not elsewhere!<\/b><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Important Tips: <\/b><\/p>\n

  • Shop at the end of the day, because your feet swell;<\/li>\n
  • Remove the false sole and place the foot in it (correct length and correct width);<\/li>\n
  • Avoid pointy-toed shoes;<\/li>\n
  • Choose shoes that are deep enough;<\/li>\n
  • Avoid shoes without heel support;<\/li>\n
  • Avoid heels that are too high.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    If you want to practice a specific sport such as running, tennis or golf, it is important to have a suitable shoe for this sport, which does not necessarily correspond to the description above of a shoe with more support.<\/p>\n

    For running, it is important to consider the minimalist index of a shoe. A high minimalist index corresponds to a light and flexible shoe while a high maximalist index is a heavier and more rigid shoe.<\/p>\n

    Here are the 5 criteria for the minimalist index:<\/strong><\/p>\n

    • Heel thickness;<\/li>\n
    • Shoe weight;<\/li>\n
    • Flexibility;<\/li>\n
    • Difference between the height of the rear vs the forefoot;<\/li>\n
    • Rear stability technology.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      What are my needs; minimalist or maximalist shoe?<\/h3>\n

      The choice of shoe depends on many factors. Here are the factors analyzed in a podiatric consultation:<\/strong><\/p>\n

      • Analysis of shoes previously worn;<\/li>\n
      • Level of running experience;<\/li>\n
      • Running technique (heel, midfoot or forefoot);<\/li>\n
      • running surfaces;<\/li>\n
      • Recent and previous injuries;<\/li>\n
      • Race goals.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
