Edith completed a bachelor’s degree in sexology and a master’s degree in sexology intervention\/research at the Universit\u00e9 du Qu\u00e9bec \u00e0 Montr\u00e9al (UQAM). She is a member of the Ordre Professionnel des Sexologues du Qu\u00e9bec (OPSQ). Edith has over twenty years’ experience in intervention and offers one-to-one individual and couple counselling.<\/p>\n
Over the course of her career, Edith has acquired a wealth of experience working in a variety of settings: organizational, community-based and clinical. She has worked with a wide range of clienteles, including adolescents, street-involved youth, people from diverse sexual and gender backgrounds, people living with HIV\/AIDS, as well as people with other mental health challenges, adopting an interdisciplinary approach.<\/p>\n
Edith’s areas of expertise include sexuality and mental health issues, as well as the issues and difficulties faced by people from LGBTQIA2+ communities. She also has a clinical interest in body image and its impact on intimacy, the relational adaptation stages of adulthood, communication, emotional management and mental health issues. Edith is also very interested in understanding the intimacy issues experienced by couples, whether they be differentiated desire disorders, power issues, communication conflicts or infertility-related issues.<\/p>\n
In her encounters, Edith adopts a humanist stance, listening to the rhythm of the person, welcoming the particularities of each individual and respecting their expertise on their unique situation. She also aims to be an ally in the face of diverse realities, by promoting an intersectional feminist approach. From a perspective of empowerment and in a safe space, Edith aims to accompany each person in their needs, while inviting them to reflect, learn about their situation and move forward to improve their well-being and sexual health.<\/p>\n
Edith also uses cognitive-behavioral theory, mindfulness, harm reduction and the brief solution-oriented approach to help her clients achieve their goals. Convinced that each individual is the expert of his or her own experience, Edith is determined to help her clients develop their potential. She is renowned for her ability to build trust with her customers through empathy and authenticity. Open-mindedness and the present moment are values she puts at the forefront of both her professional and personal life.
