Pregnancy is a small miracle in itself… Obviously, it comes with some inconvenience. As a physiotherapist, my work is physically demanding. If it wasn’t for our awesome team, I probably wouldn’t have been able to work until almost the end of my pregnancy. What helped me get through my pregnancy?
Osteopathy
Even before starting my pregnancy, I had started a follow-up in osteopathy to prepare my body for this ordeal. Osteopathy has helped my body adapt to the changes happening in the pelvis and rib cage during pregnancy. It also helped me with several symptoms like fatigue and gastric reflux.
Chiropractic
Being pregnant is a panoply of adventures… Imagine that I fell down the stairs… There was more fear for the baby than harm, but it was painful enough to need treatment. And I did well to consult. My pubic symphysis was unbalanced and painful and my sacrum moved a little. Two consultations succeeded in making me forget this unfortunate episode.
Massage therapy
The changes in pregnant women are not minimal and bring their share of muscle tension and stress. Nothing better than massage therapy to kill two birds with one stone.
Perineal and pelvic rehabilitation
We often say that we are a shoemaker with bad shoes… But I did my pelvic floor exercises right! To balance the increase in ligament laxity, I trained the muscles of my perineum. At the end of pregnancy, I did my stretches to improve my flexibility and thus facilitate the passage of the baby.
Really, I am so lucky to have had professionals to take care of me throughout my pregnancy. If you are pregnant, I recommend that you surround yourself well. Your body will thank you!
